Interests: the Kurdish movement; journalism; politics of media
- BA Anthropology/Near Eastern Studies, UC Berkeley
- MA Anthropology, UC Davis
I study the journalistic practices and imaginaries of Kurdish women journalists in Turkey. My dissertation follows practices of reporting, filming, editing, and circulating news from the newsroom of an alternative media project in Kurdistan.
At Davis, I have been involved in the Turkey Studies Research Cluster, the graduate student cluster on Critical Perspectives on the Middle East and South Asia, and Dr. Suad Joseph's Media Group. I am pursuing a Designated Emphasis in Critical Theory.
