OUTREACH ACTIVITIES
The Anthropology Museum at UC Davis offers a variety of educational and outreach programs designed to educate the public about human prehistory and the importance of preserving the archaeological record. Outreach activities include presentations on a variety of topics in classroom and community settings, UC Davis Picnic Day and Archaeology Month events, demonstrations on prehistoric technology, and coordination of archaeological exhibits and displays.
Classroom visits and field trips to the UC Davis Department of Anthropology provide an excellent way for teachers to enrich instruction of 4th grade social studies (Early California) and 7th grade science (evolution) curricula. Popular presentation topics include the prehistory of California and North America, Native Californian lifeways, archaeological investigation techniques, general macro-evolutionary processes, early hominid material culture, and the origins and dispersal of modern humans.
