Field Conditions
The weather in coastal Mendocino county in the summer is typified by cool, moist conditions with abundant fog. High temperatures average around 65 degrees, but can get as hot as 80 degrees. Overnight lows average in the mid-40's, but can reach the upper 30s. While rain is uncommon in the summer months it can occur and rain gear is recommended.

Be prepared for hard, physical work and life without certain amenities and comforts during the duration of the six weeks. Layering clothing will be key for dealing with the environmental situation.
Students are expected to be present the entire duration of the six week course and are required to work Monday through Saturday. Students will have the opportunity to partake in fieldtrips and excursions to surrounding areas and attractions.
