Cristiana Giordano's book Migrants in Translation: Caring and the Logics of Difference in Contemporary Italy has been awarded second prize in the Victor Turner Prize competition for ethnographic writing. In making the announcement, the committee said it was impressed by the book's "originality, innovative methods, experience-near approach, quality of writing, presentation and engagement with anthropological literature and theory." It is also an "exemplar of the finest ethnographic writing and an important contribution to humanistic anthropology and the field in general.” The award will be presented to Cristiana at the AAA meetings in November.
